Checking on Lysie

After naps we usually all go in together to get Lysie out of her crib. It's one of the kids favorite things to do, lol, they go crazy! Squealing her name, jumping up and down and more. It's hilarious, and it's every single time. You'd think they'd be tired of it, but they are always quick to run in morning and after naps to get her all excited.
On this particular day I guess they beat me to it because when I walked in, I saw this...
 Then I saw this...

Cheery Creations: Finger Puppets

I found a cute little finger puppet kit at our small sewing center. It was on sale for $0.50, can't beat that for an activity with the kids :)
They loved it too. I couldn't believe how good they both were at sewing. I helped Mara by holding hers, but she did all the needle and threading herself. Bper was a little more independent, he help it and sewed it all by himself. *proud momma moment*
They turned out super cute and they were even perfect additions to our homemade felt board.
I love Bper's deep concentration and Mara's carefree stick it anywhere attitudes.

Date Night - Dinner & Goofy Golf

The hubs and I snuck away one evening while my awesomely fabulous sisters ;) watched our heathens. We went to Goofy Golf and had a complete blast. We even ordered $0.50 slushies and bought $0.25 candy, lol, all stuff we didn't have to share with the kids...mwuhahahaha.
Oh and I won ;)
...both rounds...Boom!
Dinner and dessert afterwards was a pretty big hit with us too.
So nice to get out and remember how much fun it is to just be a couple.

Playdough

My kids, especially Miss Mara, LOVE playdough!!
I found a recipe for homemade playdough and I can't wait to try it with the kids :)
Here's the recipe from Art Nests Blog:
This is a great opportunity to introduce measuring and the color wheel to your children - they can help add the food coloring to discover how colors mix!

Homemade Play Dough - makes about 2.5 Cups
1 1/2 cups of flour
3/4 cups of salt
1 1/2 cups water
1 TB vegetable oil
1/2 TB cream of tarter
*food coloring - I use the liquid kind
Mix all of the ingredients into a saucepan. Add the food coloring to your liking. - Children can help with this step
Adults only -
Set your stove top to medium-low (about a 2.5 on a glass top stove). Stand by the pan and stir occasionally. When the batter look is gone and the ingredients start staying together when you stir (5-8 minutes), remove the pan from the heat. Lay out some wax paper and scoop play dough onto the wax paper. I can usually start kneading right away, but make sure that you check the dough for heat - you don't want to burn yourself!
Once the dough has been kneaded into a nice texture, place in an airtight container or zip lock. The snack sized zip locks work beautifully.

New play dough made using Wilson's food coloring gel (the gel makes for extra vibrant colors). I probably enjoyed this project more than the children this time. I was able to get 7 balls of dough by doubling the recipe (found in my projects folder - substitute liquid food coloring with gel food coloring). I used my Magic Bullet to blend the food coloring gel and 3/4 C of 'batter' for each individual color (instead of stirring) and the play dough turned out ultra smooth. Make some summer colors this week for your children to enjoy...Simply Lovely!
I'm more than happy to share this project with you and hope that you enjoy the process of creating!  If you liked this project leave me a comment!
Thanks so much~ Susannah
